Current probate fees (2026)
The probate application fee in England and Wales is straightforward. Estates valued at £5,000 or less pay nothing. Estates above £5,000 pay a flat fee of £300, regardless of the estate's total value.
This fee covers the court application only. If you instruct a solicitor to handle probate, their professional fees will be additional. Many solicitors charge 1-2% of the estate value for full probate administration.
